Senior Accounting Manager

Job Description

The Senior Accounting Manager will lead the accounting team of skilled professionals and oversee the many aspects of Swell Accounting Department including; accounts payable, billing, financial reporting and audit compliance. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this is an opportunity for an individual with an extensive knowledge in GAAP and looking for a challenge.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Leadership: Provide strategic financial guidance and direction to the organization, helping to drive sound financial decision-making.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes continuous improvement.
  • Accounting Close: Manage the month end, quarterly and annual close process including consolidation of all legal entities, managing inter-company transactions and eliminations.
  • Financial Reporting: Support preparation of the financial statements, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant regulations.
  • Audit and Compliance: Partner with the Controller to manage external audits, external accounting consultants and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Tax Management: Oversee tax planning and compliance, working closely with external tax advisors to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Financial Systems: Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline operations and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously improve accounting processes, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in accounting and finance, with a mix of both Public Accounting and Industry experience 
  • 2 years in a managerial role
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
  • CPA certification (active or inactive)
  • Experience implementing and improving business processes and/or systems

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Highly collaborative temperament, proven communication skills and demonstrated experience to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional diverse teams

  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and financial analysis.

  • Experience in telecom, energy/solar or other home service industries 

  • Knowledge of renewable energy, solar industry trends, and sustainability initiatives is highly desirable.

  • Passion for clean energy and a genuine commitment to driving positive environmental change.

Compensation: $126k - $159k Annually
